Post morning workout smoothie! By Georgie Morley!

This weeks feature recipe is by Georgie Morley. Georgie runs "In it 4 the Long Run," an amazing blog created to help awesome ladies find their health, joy and purpose for the long run. Georgie was kind enough to share with us one of her favourite smoothie recipes. Enjoy!

In the last several months I’ve slowly embraced the magic of a morning run. For a long time I used to roll my eyes at early morning exercisers thinking they were all a little crazy. However, once I got the hang of lacing up as soon as I got out of bed, I understood what the hype was all about.

I know personally, working out in the morning helps my creativity flowing, puts me in a good mood, boosts my natural energy (without the extra cup of coffee) and helps me get my workout in before the day gets away from me. Starting on a positive note has had huge ripple effects on the rest of my choices that day. I’m more likely to stay hydrated, choose healthier foods and honestly just be in a better mood when I’ve had my run in. Some days I’ll try to push my pace while others it’s just about getting up and out there.

One of my favourite things about going for a run is my post-workout smoothie afterwards. This breakfast truly tastes like a treat after a solid workout. In my smoothies I like to have a mix of fruit, spinach, almond milk and protein powder so I can stay fueled through the whole morning. This mix of cherries, raspberries and vanilla protein powder never gets old.

Ingredients

1 frozen banana

1 cup of frozen cherries

1 1/2 cups of spinach

1 scoop of vanilla protein powder

1/2-1 cup of unsweetened almond milk (add more for a thinner smoothie)

Directions

In a high powered blended mix together all ingredients until your smoothie reaches your desired consistency.

Now is all you've got to do is enjoy!
